What was the "spark" that got your organization involved in QF?
It was more a reaction to the negative press nursing homes seem to get. This was a formal, well-organized, pro-active means to paint a more positive picture. We immediately felt compelled to jump on the bandwagon and signed the document.
Where/how did you learn about QF?
During one of AAHSA's annual conferences a while back.
Have you reviewed the information on the QF Web site? Yes
If YES, what was helpful? The outlined explanation of Quality First was very helpful.
Does your organization have a Quality First leader ... an individual or committee?
No, we have just started.
Who has been informed of the Quality First initiative at your organization?
CEO/ADMINISTRATOR — Informed
MANAGEMENT STAFF — Initially informed. Some new managers have not heard.
RESIDENTS/CLIENTS — Initially informed. Some new residents have not heard.
OTHER STAFF
GOVERNING BOARD
Members have voiced several reasons for not signing the QF Covenant, including: We already run a quality organization; we don't want to expose ourselves to greater liability; we can't afford it; we're too busy. What would you say to encourage these members to sign the QF Covenant?
There is power in numbers and no matter how an organization may want to stand alone in this business, consumers, most everyone will lump us all together. Working together on trying to paint a positive image can only help everyone. Therefore, the more we all come together as one positive voice, the more we will all benefit as long term care providers.
