| AAHSA's Chair Explains Her Belief in Quality First

Updated: January 25, 2006
Like any new leader, Margaret M. "Peggy" Mullan, AAHSA's new board chair, has ambitious goals for our association. At AAHSA's Annual Meeting & Exposition in November 2005, Mullan explained three of these goals, including the maturation of AAHSA Quality First as the platform for creating the future of aging services. In a recent article in AAHSA's
futureAge magazine, Mullan explained her commitment to the transforming power of Quality First:
"I believe in the power of Quality First. I see it as a tool to help us 'connect all the dots.' Through the elements of Quality First we knit together an infrastructure that drives excellence through every level of our organizations. If we embrace that concept individually and collectively, we will transform our field—and I mean the word 'transform' in its literal sense. Committing to Quality First is more than signing a piece of paper, however, just as living a marriage vow is more than signing a marriage certificate. It is walking the talk, living the promise, day in and day out."
Peggy is not alone. Thousands of aging-services organizations nationwide are committed to achieving excellence and earning public trust through Quality First. To learn more, visit the AAHSA Quality First Web site,
