Why Your Organization Should Sign the AAHSA Quality First Covenant

Quality First enhances our value as a field, distinguishes our organizations as not-for-profit aging services providers and demonstrates that AAHSA members are "setting the standard" for quality. Over the last five years, we've heard from a lot of members about the value of Quality First for their organizations. Some of what they've said is:

Quality First …
… Is flexible and can be implemented in ways that are suitable for our needs.

… Helps us keep up with constant change and achieve excellence in aging services.

… Provides strength in numbers by joining our community with thousands of others who have signed the Covenant.

… Demonstrates our commitment to quality to our residents, families, staff, board, policymakers.

… Helps us fulfill AAHSA's vision that not-for-profit organizations have a special role to provide healthy, affordable and ethical aging services.

… Augments strategic planning, risk management, and safety planning programs.

… Is not just a program; it is a message that we provide the highest quality care and services to the people we serve.

… Gives a name to our good work and provides a recognizable brand: Quality First.

… Provides a framework for us to use as we pursue quality.

… Reflects our organization's mission and values.

… Works in conjunction with accreditation.

… Provides a common focus among all departments.

    … Fosters culture change.

    … Encourages community involvement.

… Creates a common language for all stakeholders that makes "quality" easier to understand.

… Fosters trust and confidence in our organization because we are committed to Quality First.
