Stand Up Gardens Enables Anyone To Enjoy Fresh Vegetables and Flowers Year Round

STANDUP GARDENS

Joins AAHSA Group Purchasing & Shared Services Program

In a continuing effort to offer the members of AAHSA new and valuable services, we are pleased to announce our partnership with the award-winning Standup Gardens.

Products
Stand Up Gardens is an entirely new way to garden. Anyone can garden anywhere because it is a mobile garden bed that is moved on casters and has brakes, and it is easily accessible from wheelchairs. The garden cart has built–in drainage and irrigation manifolds that can be connected for multiple garden installations. Take a look.

About Standup Gardens
There are more than 4000 Standup Gardens being used across the US and Canada. Feedback from facilities consistently state; Standup Gardens improve people's lives, a primary goal for every elder care facility. Standup Gardens are the first and only product:
  • To be endorsed by the American Horticultural Therapy Association
  • To receive the prestigious Lifespace Design Award from the American Health Care Associations Provider Magazine
  • To be recognized by the American Institute for Architects (AIA) for inclusion in their Design for Aging – 2000 Review
  • To be selected by Dr. Bill Thomas as "as an excellent tool" for adopting the Eden Alternative
Benefits
Among the many benefits of Standup Gardens are:
  • They allow residents to develop a sense of purpose in caring for Gardens
  • The Gardens boost camaraderie while the residents actively shape and beautify their environment
  • Horticultural programs help residents enjoy the satisfaction that they can still learn, be creative and productive
  • Horticulture programs have been proven to lower barriers, improve self–esteem, increase physical functioning and boost camaraderie
Gardening has a positive, life affirming effect on people and Standup Gardens allow residents to be "care givers" and not "care receivers". It has also been proven that gardening stimulates memory in Dementia and Alzheimer's patients. In addition, the Full Spectrum grow light system provides optical brilliance and, for those unable to spend time outside or during the colder months, numerous other benefits found in natural sunlight.

AAHSA–Only Benefits
AAHSA members will receive a $200.00 discount on the Babylon Garden and a $300.00 discount on the Huntington Garden.
