March 9 Congressional Contact Day for Health Reform

Loading...

As we have successfully done at critical times during this process, we must once again raise our voices and tell our legislators that passing this bill will help millions of seniors, people with disabilities and all American families. On Tuesday, March 9, we encourage you, your residents, clients, staff, board members and volunteers to help us share this message. Learn more about how health reform would affect seniors and persons with disabilities.

Here’s what you can do to help:

  • Call Your Senators: Make a toll-free call to (866) 281-7219. When you call, the system will ask you to say your state's name and will then transfer you automatically to one of your senators. The lines are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern. You can use the sample script below to make sure your voice is heard.
  • Send a Fax to Your Representatives: We've set up our Contact Congress system so that you can fax your representatives a letter urging them to pass health reform because it includes improvements to Medicare and Medicaid and implementation of CLASS provisions that will help seniors and people with disabilities.

We encourage you to do more than just forward this e-mail around.

  • Plan an event: Try hosting a call-in day event or go around your office encouraging people to call.
  • Post a blog: The blogosphere is great place for telling others about your call-in efforts. AAHSA will be posting updates on our Future of Aging blog.
  • Twitter: Tweet about AAHSA Call-In Day and we'll display your message on our blog. Simply add the hash tag #AAHSAcall to your tweet.
  • Use Social Media sites: Message your friends on Facebook and LinkedIn. Join our Facebook event page and invite more people.

Are you crazy???? Or just selfishly thinking of your “Special Interests”? Name one thing the government runs well! Fannie May, Freddie Mac, Post Office, VA System, .......... They cannot even manage Medicare or Medicaid appropriately and you want them to run one sixth of our economy and raise taxes in a terrible economic time! Washington has become “Corruption City”, with all this buying of votes and behind closed door dealing. STOP them NOW, please think of the long term implications, not the short term gain by your industry…… Dave A rare conservative living in MD....

I made my calls and asked Senator Bond to vote for those in need over party line politics, we need health care now and can make improvements over time. The script helped as a starting point. I noticed some staffers stopped typing after my first two to three sentences....so I learned to get the point covered in two sentences.....make the first sentence count!!

I have just finished dialing the number supplied. It did not allow me to contact the Democrat Senator from NC Kay Hagen and instead I reached the office of Sen. Burr a Republican. It is unfortunate aahas is biased. Sylvanus W Nye, Galloway Ridge, Pittsboro, NC
