About the Awards

The AAHSA Annual Awards honor those who have made a commitment to AAHSA Quality First, who embody excellence in leadership, care and service innovation, and who are making outstanding contributions to their communities and our field. Award categories are organized to encourage nominations that exemplify achievement in alignment with one or more of the 10 Elements of Quality at the heart of Quality First.

Eligibility

In award categories open to AAHSA members, only member organizations (and individuals associated with member organizations) that have a signed Quality First Covenant on file with AAHSA by the award deadline are eligible for consideration. Click here to confirm your organization’s Quality First status.

Current members of the AAHSA Board of Directors are not eligible for association awards. Nominations and Awards Committee members and their organizations also are ineligible for association awards.

Entry forms

How to submit

Award nominations may be submitted online using the applicable entry form above. Or, if you prefer to mail your entry, you may print and complete the appropriate nomination form found in the AAHSA Annual Awards brochure. Mail one paper copy of your entry AND one copy on CD (Microsoft Word or text file; no pdfs, please) to: Annual Awards, AAHSA, 2519 Connecticut Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20008-1520. Mailed nominations must be postmarked by April 30, 2008.

Entry form prep tips

Please answer all questions indicated on the entry form for each entry you are submitting. Verify the organization’s Quality First status and AAHSA membership for those categories that require it (most do). When answering questions, provide as much detail as possible without exceeding the word count or space limit indicated. If mailing your entry, please do not bind or staple it. Letters of support are not required.

Judging and Notification

Nominations are open until April 30, 2008. Our Nominations and Awards Committee will judge the entries and present a slate of winners to our Board of Directors for their approval. We will notify award winners by late July so honorees can make plans to attend the AAHSA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Philadelphia, Pa., Oct. 12-15, 2008, to accept their awards. Although we are unable to defray winners’ travel expenses, each winner or winning organization will receive one complimentary registration to the Philadelphia meeting.

You also will be notified if your nomination is not selected for an award. Even though not every entry will receive an award, all nominations are carefully considered and often lead to additional opportunities to “tell the story” of members’ accomplishments through such avenues as Quality First, education, media outreach, our magazine and other member communications.
