Rep. Maxine Waters Urges Colleagues to Support Affordable Housing, Including Section 202, in Budget Process

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity, is circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter to House members asking for their support for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs in FY11 funding.

The letter, which is addressed to House Appropriations Transportation-HUD Subcommittee Chair John Olver (D-Mass.) and Ranking Member Tom Latham (R-Iowa), includes a request of $825 million for the Section 202 program and $300 million for the 811 program. Neither program received capital advance funding in the Obama administration’s budget request.

Please contact your representatives and ask them to sign onto Chairwoman Waters’ letter by contacting Amanda Fisher. The deadline for sign-on is March 16, 2010.
